Plans and Limits
What Light and Pro include, how the monthly token budget works, what counts as usage, and exactly what happens when you hit a limit.
Dr Moot's plans differ on two axes: which deliberation shapes you can run, and how many tokens you can spend per month.
The plans
| Light | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Modes | Relay | Relay · Debate · Moot · Auto |
| Max rounds | 1 | 3 |
| Monthly token budget | 1,000,000 | 2,000,000 |
An active subscription is required to run deliberations — without one, runs are blocked and the Lab points you to billing.
Downgrade, don't fail
When a request exceeds your plan, Dr Moot downgrades it instead of erroring:
- A Light user selecting Moot or Debate gets Relay.
- A rounds setting above your plan's ceiling is clamped down.
- Auto works on every plan — but on Light, whatever the router picks is still capped to Relay with 1 round.
The run always tells you what actually executed, so a downgrade is visible, never silent.
What counts as usage
Your budget is measured in tokens (input + output combined), and it covers everything a run consumes — not just the words you see:
- every panelist's drafts, critiques, and revisions,
- the synthesizer / Chair,
- the Auto router, the Moot consensus checker, and verification passes,
- context re-sent between steps (attachments and conversation history count each time they're included).
This is why a 3-round Moot with attachments costs a multiple of a 1-round Relay. If you're budget-conscious: prefer Auto (it picks the cheapest adequate shape), keep rounds at 1 unless contested, and attach the relevant pages rather than whole documents.
Watching your usage
- The usage meter in Settings → Billing shows tokens used this period against your budget.
- With notifications enabled, Dr Moot warns you when you approach the budget and again when you reach it.
When the budget runs out
Runs are blocked until the period resets or you upgrade. Everything else keeps working — your history, saved conversations, and settings stay fully accessible.
Managing your subscription
Settings → Account → Billing shows your current plan and opens the customer portal for invoices, payment methods, and plan changes. Organization billing is separate, under Settings → Organization → Billing.
